Description
Gaia Green Diatomaceous Earth
Gaia Green Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring sedimentary rock, consisting of fossilized remains of diatoms – silica rich, single-celled algae. Specifically, this soil amendment encourages retention of water and nutrients, while draining freely and allowing high oxygen circulation within the growing medium.
Gaia Green Diatomaceous Earth can be used as an insecticide. For example, Diatomaceous earth works to get rid of insects such as: Aphids, Thrips, Ants, Mites, Earwigs, Bedbugs, Adult Flea Beetles, Cockroaches, Snails, as well as Slugs. Additionally, to these insects, diatomaceous earth is a lethal dust with microscopic sharp edges that cut through their protective covering and dries them out. Furthermore, one of the benefits of diatomaceous earth for insect control is that the insects have no way to build up a resistance to it, which can’t be said for many chemical control insecticides. It is important to note that diatomaceous earth will not harm the worms or any of the beneficial microorganisms in the soil.
BENEFITS
- Improves nutrient and water holding capacity.
- Additionally, improves soil structure and porosity for better drainage and air circulation.
- For use as a soil amendment.
- Derived from Diatomaceous Earth
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
As with any pesticide, be sure to read the label thoroughly and follow the directions. Furthermore, the directions will include how to properly apply the diatomaceous earth both in the garden and indoors.
To help improve soil structure and water holding capacity, apply 500 g per m2 of area (1 lb per 10 ft2), and mix thoroughly into soil. Apply once per year.
